Obituary of Robert (Bob) William Laakso
Stubbornly passed away at home in East Gwillimbury after a fierce battle. He is so very sadly missed by the love of his life, Judy; his three children, Linda (Jim Amesbury), Lars (Rebecca) and Loklin (Lisa); his grandchildren, Hunter, Katy, Nicholas, Brett, Larissa, Kara, Logan, Jake and Oskar; Nancy Edney; Julie Moore (Marcello); Rosie and Zeus; extended family and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents Oscar and Senia Laakso. Bob was born and raised in the small town of Geraldton but always dreamed big, working hard, building, travelling, creating and making “to do” lists until his last days.
Trapper was a proud graduate of the Haileybury School of Mines (1959) and the Michigan Technological University (1964) – Geological Engineering.
Thank you to all of the staff from Southlake Regional Cancer Centre, the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre, Dr. Baguio, Donna, Svetlana, Alicia, Lucky and the many people who cared for Bob.
We will have a celebration of life in the upcoming months – announcements will be sent out soon.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local cancer centre, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Terry Fox Foundation.
Bob wanted to remind us all to get your bits checked out – don’t wait! Cancer can be beaten especially if you find it early!
