Obituary of Lucia Cetrulo

Lucia peacefully passed away at Villa Colombo in  Kleinberg on Monday, November 25, 2024 at 91 years of age. Lucia lived at Villa Colombo for 18 years. Our family would like to express our gratitude to all the staff at the Villa for the loving care extended to Lucia over the years. 

Beloved wife of late Lorenzo Cetrulo. Loving mother of Rose (John) and Alfonso (Leisa). Proud Nonna of Alexander, Amanda (Daniel) and Vanessa.

Lucia’s life was lived with many great adventures supported by her strong faith and complete trust in God. Married by proxi, Lucia left her hometown of Caposele (Italy) at the young age of 23. She travelled by ship across the Atlantic to Uruguay to join Lorenzo (the love of her life).

Seventeen years later, she courageously embarked on a new chapter and travelled from Uruguay to Canada where Lucia and her two children would join Lorenzo. In Toronto, she would work for over 20 years as a seamstress at Sainthill Levine Uniforms. Her hobbies included knitting, cooking, baking, reading and doing crossword puzzles from her St. Gerard magazines.

Above all, Lucia loved her family and treasured  her beloved grandchildren.

In her later years, Lucia was diagnosed with dementia: a condition that slowly robbed her of many memories. In spite of these challenges, her sweet nature and loving humanity always prevailed. 

Her courage, love and smile will always remain with us.

Visitation will be held at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Road, Bradford on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 from 11 a.m.- 11:45 a.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Martyrs of Japan Catholic Church, 167 Essa Street, Bradford at 12 noon. Interment to follow at Holy Martyrs Cemetery, Bradford.

The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 12 noon. Funeral Mass
