Born in Belfast, Ireland to Isabel and Albert Lyttle.  Immigrated to Canada at the age of 4 with his parents, brother John and sister June.  First living in Trenton and then moved to Oakville, Ontario.

His love of bands started with the Trafalgar Police Youth band in Oakville playing trumpet. In 1959 joined the famous Scout House Preston Marching Band starting by playing first trumpet, later switched to French Horn. Scout House Preston Band toured Quebec and some cities in the USA.  Band members had to age out at 20.

Members of the original Band formed an alumni band with more than 100 members. Which he joined in 1972 travelling from Newmarket to Kitchener weekly for band practice and of course met up with old friends. He kept in touch with Neil Tedford and Richard Truman who wrote a book as a tribute to the history of Scout House.

He married Wendy Sue on June 1, 1968. A few years later they purchased a cabin which they expanded over time on Lake Catchacoma. Where many joyous summers and fun times were had with lake friends, who rapidly became extended family.

The phrase “You cannot tell an Irishman anything” was what he lived by. Good humor and loved his scotch.

Mount Albert was his last residence with a smalltown atmosphere.

Dennis leaves behind his wife Wendy Sue, sister June Lyttle, nephews Greg (Tanya), Brad (Lisa), Kevin Slater and his niece Debra.

Cremation has taken place.  A celebration of Dennis' life will be held at Meadowbrook Golf Club, 11939 Warden Ave., Whitchurch-Stouffville on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 1-4 p.m.
