Pain in my ass he would always say, and yes Jan, Brat! was one of his favourite monikers for me as well. When I was a kid, he was always lurking in the shadows....always there with eyes seeing and ears hearing, always calling me out if I was doing something he thought was inappropriate...Pain in the ass was my moniker for HIM in those formative years!! I'd complain to my parents and my Dad would just say good, he's watching. Clearly, they didn't understand my juvenile mind... NOTHING was good, he was a big ring of oil in my water of having fun!! Until it was movie night at his trailer... that, I didn't mind at all. Honestly, a bit of a brat I was lol. In 1995 when I took over the park, who was there like a bad penny? Joe! Still lurking, still watching and listening..... this time as a silent ally. The support and love he showed, he would never admit and he never had to. You felt it. Those who looked only at his gruff exterior never got to experience the depths of his loyalty, generosity and friendship and caring. I am so proud to be one who got to experience it all. "Joe and Fran" became the phrase whenever you spoke about one or the other. They were a pair. I send the biggest hug to Fran who continues her journey here without her love of her life.....the pain in the ass xo. Joe hung on for as long as he could.... for his beloved I'm sure. I know that he had a large welcoming committee in Heaven, even though he insisted he was going down instead of up. He will be missed immensely by all those who love him. He is still here. In our memories, his kids and grandkids, the stories we tell, our laughter and our tears. He's still lurking, watching, listening and walking right beside his loved ones, out of pain, full of the wisdom we only discover when we pass, guiding and protecting those he loves. Sending the family much love and healing light xoxo

Joe’s passing is a day I will never forget. It was such an honour to share his final hours with him and Fran, the love of his life. I’ve known Joe since I was a kid, he used to razz me all the time and called me brat until I grew up and became very close to him and Fran, then I got promoted to his “sweetheart”. We spent many a morning on my deck at the Ponderosa pondering life. I will always cherish those special one on one times. Rest in Peace Joe pain free. P.S. I did not sleep in your bed xoxo
