Condolences to Doug’s family. We grew up in the same neighbourhood ,Doug was like our big brother. We were safe around him. He was the best storyteller with the greatest descriptions of life in general, that would have anyone listening rolling on the floor. Sure miss him. Love and thanks to Ann Margaret.

May God give you Peace, knowing he has called Doug home after all his struggles. He was a fighter, yet an optimistic
man, who overcame many challenges after his neck injury, and through life. We remember Doug fondly, and the wonderful big smile that he so willingly shared with others.
I'm certain he'll be reunited with all his family and friends that have gone before him. Say Hello to Randy, Doug!

Doug and I met at Lyndhurst while rehabilitating from our injuries. I first met him in the gymnasium as he was busy working out. We got to talking and became friends, as he did with others in our floor. He instilled in me the mindset and strength to work hard to get back all we could. We thought it was funny how he managed to upset the gym manager as he felt that Doug may be working too hard. That didn’t slow him down one bit. He was right in saying, “What reason is there for you to go back and just lay in your room?” He was so right, and I’ve worked hard ever since. Later, during our visits, he would praise how much aqua therapy pools helped him and how tired but good he felt working out in them. Again, he was so right. I will always think of him and thank him as I get into these pools. He helped me in those ways so much and I just hope he knows how much that has helped me fight back. I will miss him but know that he is no longer in any pain. Go with God my friend!

I have wonderful memories of seeing Doug and his good buddy Shadow walking all over Bradford. Doug would often walk Shadow through Lions Park when I was there with my daycare kids and they would start chanting, “Shadow, Shadow” when they saw them coming. Doug and I would chat as the kids took turns petting Shadow, then when Ann had a day off work she would often join them which is how we met and became good friends. Our hearts are breaking for you Ann, knowing the pain you are going through. Doug now is finally free from all the pain he has been experiencing for years, and he is with the Lord.
From all our family Ann, our deepest Condolences.
