Obituary of Alexander Afanasev
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Alexander Afanasev, who departed from us at Southlake Regional Health Centre on April 6th, 2024, at the age of 61, following a courageous battle with cancer. His passing marks the end of a chapter filled with kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family and friends.
Alexander was the devoted husband of Marina for 41 years, a loving father to Victoria Johnston and Sofia (Lucas Friedmann), and a proud grandfather to four cherished grandchildren.
In 1996, Alexander embarked on a journey to Canada, driven by a profound desire to provide his family with a better life. He was a dedicated electrician, pouring his heart and soul into his work every day. His commitment to excellence was matched only by his boundless generosity, as he readily extended a helping hand to all in need.
Yet, amidst his professional endeavors, Alexander's true joy resided in his family. He was a pillar of strength and support, finding fulfillment in the simple pleasures of life. Whether he was casting lines into the tranquil waters while fishing or engaging in lively poker games with his buddies, Alexander's laughter, humour, and warmth illuminated the lives of those around him.
Although Alexander has left our physical realm, his spirit remains eternally present in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of hard work, kindness, and love will endure as a testament to his remarkable character.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation, which will be held on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024, at Skwarchuk Funeral Home located at 30 Simcoe Road in Bradford, from 4 to 7 pm.
May Alexander find eternal peace, comforted by the knowledge that he was deeply cherished and will be profoundly missed by all whose lives he touched.
