Thoughts and prayers go out to Joanna, Joey, Greg and the rest of the family. Tonight my family is fondly remembering special times with Art. He was such a caring and funny man that made you always feel special. Many knew him as Santa and the Town Crier but my family had the honour of calling him a friend.

Art brought joy and laughter wherever he went. From his one-liners to his unforgettable anecdotes, you could say he was the father of the dad joke. I was usually the enthusiastic audience to Art's comedic genius, earning me the reprimand of, "Mel, stop encouraging him" more times than I can count. His kindness and charm endeared him to all, leaving a lasting impression on those fortunate to have crossed his path. Though he may be gone, the laughter and warmth he brought into our lives will never fade. Rest easy Art. You'll be dearly missed, but your spirit lives on in our hearts and memories. Art was quite the trickster. When Greg and I were expecting Emma, he asked if I would consider naming the baby after his sister if it was a girl. I said what was your sister’s name. He said Elizabeth. When the baby turned out to a bouncing baby girl of course we included the name Elizabeth. Emma Elizabeth Maria Meeke. At a family party celebrating the new addition, Art took me aside and asked where her names came from. I said Emma because we liked the name, Elizabeth for your sister and Maria for my grandmother. He said I don’t have a sister Elizabeth, my sister’s name is Dorothy. One of many of Art’s tricks that will keeping us laughing for years to come.
