Obituary of Trudy Gillard
Passed peacefully away at home, aged 70, after a short but courageous battle against cancer. Predeceased by her father and mother, Roy and Hilda Carberry, and brother in laws Fraser Gillingham and Edward Power. Leaving to mourn her devoted husband and partner for more than 30 years, Randy Power; children Janice Tee (Robert), Carolyn Windsor (Andrew), Erin Gillard (Jamie) and Ryan Gillard (Kim); grandchildren Rachel, Lauren, Alex, Elizabeth, Abel and baby Sloane; beloved cat Oliver; sisters Carol Evans and Doris Gillingham (Fred); brothers Leonard Carberry (Barb) and Bill Carberry; blood sister Barb Power, and a cherished circle of family and friends across Canada.
Born in St. John's, Newfoundland, Trudy embodied the East Coast spirit of love, kindness, and laughter. When she wasn't entertaining family and friends with an incredible meal at her home in Bradford, she could usually be found dancing and singing along to music or with her "Twisted Sisters" at the gym. She made lifelong friends working at the Memorial University of Newfoundland Bookstore and was a proud member of the Sears Canada team in Newmarket, Ontario, for over a decade.
Trudy was a bright light in so many people's lives and will be remembered as simply the best wife, mom, nanny, sister, aunt, and friend anyone could ever ask for.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Famy Yim Lee, and the doctors and nurses of Southlake Regional Hospital and the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre for their compassion and care.
Friends and family are invited to gather to say farewell to Trudy. A visitation will be held at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Rd., Bradford on Thursday, January 18, 2024 from 5-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 11 a.m.
