Obituary of Paul Sopuch

Paul Sopuch, Holland Marsh grower, died at the age of 93 on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, Ontario. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving children.

 

He was born in Longueuil, Quebec on February 15, 1930. His family moved to Bradford, Ontario in 1947 and settled in the Holland Marsh to start growing onions, carrots and other vegetables in the rich, organic soil. 

 

Farming was Paul’s greatest passion in life. Nothing made him happier than being outdoors working the fields. He enjoyed traveling to many parts of the world with his wife Ann, always making sure to stop at local farms during their stay. He lived with optimism and joy, made friends easily, and was loved by so many. He never stopped learning and doing.  

 

Paul is predeceased by his parents Julia and Paul Sopuch Sr.  Beloved husband of late Ann for 65 years. Loving father of David (Angelica), Daniel (Zenia), Karen Makedon (Terry). Cherished grandpa of Max; Christopher, Nicholas; and Jimmy. Brother of late Helen Mihalcin (late Joseph), late John (Mary), late Michael. Paul leaves many extended family members in Slovakia, USA and Canada.

 

A visitation will be held at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Road, Bradford on Sunday, August 6, 2023 from 2-5 p.m. 

 

A funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 53 Miller Park Ave, Bradford on Monday, August 7, 2023 at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at the Church.

 

Interment at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bradford.
