So sorry to hear of Pat’s passing. Pat was my soccer coach in my teenage years and I appreciate all the time he dedicated to our team. I think we practiced at least two times a week and we were driving all across the province for games. He gave me a ton of confidence as a player and as a new player to the team, he always made me feel welcome and included which I greatly appreciated. Pat was a great coach - the guidance and encouragement he gave me is part of the reason why I’m still playing to this day.

My condolences to Jackie, the kids and their families. I remember Pat fondly from my days at Apotex. He was all about his wife, kids, family, hockey and being one of the most dedicated hard working cogs in the wheel at that company. Pat was charismatic and well liked by all. He will be sorely missed. If we ever get together on Super Bowl weekend with the gang again, I am sure we will all have a fond story or two to tell about Pat.

My deepest condolences to the family. May God give you patience, strength and help you live on through his memories.
Although I left Apotex years ago, I cherish many memories. Especially those with amazing mentors and leaders like Pat. His passion, dedication and inspiration were unmatched. He always made time for everyone to coach, encourage or simply share some good advice with. Whether personal or work related, Pat cared. He connected with everyone. When it came to getting that product out the door though, Pat was on fire! No one got people moving like he did. All it took was one word, call or visit from him and it got done.
RIP Boss, you will be missed. And thank you for inspiring us to always do better.

He was always there for you in your time of need. I’ll never forget how he supported me during my wife’s sickness and will do regular check ups to see how my wife was doing and how I was coping and if I needed anything. Pat was a unique individual. Very private but at the same time very easy going, making anyone around him feel excepted and valued. He was my friend for 30 years, from the very first few days I joined Apotex in 1993. I very quickly learned that behind the friendly face and disposition there was a determined force to get things done. We all knew Barry and Jack, but we also knew who the actual BOSS was, making sure the patients get what is critical for them. I can’t think of any other person at “old” Apotex who made such an impact on everything related to the execution of the plans to deliver medicine to the patients. On his last day at work he came to my office around lunch time to give me a lecture on some delays and wanted me to get things sorted out (very normal daily occurrence . Then he said lets go out for a smoke and he didn’t have a jacket, so I gave him my spare one and we went outside. The whole conversation was about his changing life priorities, with his granddaughter being the center of his universe and his plans to spend more time with her and (hopefully) more grandkids….no pressure kids. This was sort of aligned with where I was on my life’s journey since Pat was just only one year younger than me and we had a lot of things in common to look forward. I will remember that day forever, last time I saw and talk to my dear friend.
No words to express my sorrow for the loss of a such great man who meant so much for so many of us at Apotex and of course to his family he loved and cared for so much. He will be in my thoughts and prayers forever.
As we say in our tradition, May His Memory Be A Blessing……

Foremost, Jackie, my most sincere condolences to you and the entire Logel clan. Your loss is much bigger than ours….
So, it was January 1987 when this very green 19-year-old Cape Bretoner first walked into the Apotex ‘warehouse’. I met a few new folks like Abe and Al, Hugh, John, Lascelles, Andy, Kevin and others. And there was this ‘lady’ looking person over packing orders whom I later found out was a guy (complete with the flowing locks). Yep! That was a guy! and that guy was Pat.
For 36 and a half years to the day our paths crossed, and I’ve never ceased to understand his ability to get stuff done, remember the minutest of details, care about his organization, corral teams during good and bad times and have fun doing it all. We played ball, had a couple pints at Lake St Peter, golfed (the pic was a round in India) and just sat and talked, (more like stood and talked while Pat has a smoke by Jack’s No Smoking sign…..). His perspective was visionary to say the least.
Thank you, Pat, for the friendship. leadership, guidance, support, a few kicks in the ass and for being a role model for so many of us over the decades. You made a huge difference. RIP buddy.

Uncle Pat,
I feel like no matter what I write, it can’t come close to describing what you meant to our family.
Our family was blessed with some amazing aunts and uncles but the relationship you had with my brothers and I definitely stemmed from you living with us at a young age.
You and uncle Geoff would play hide and seek with us, you would tease and joke with us, you would help take care of us and you quickly sealed the cool uncle status.
I remember you and Jackie taking care of Kara and I while our parents were in Florida. You and Jackie spoiled us rotten with toys, candy and adventures. When you drove us home from the CNE and got pulled over by the police we thought it was the coolest thing ever. Forget the fun we had at the CNE, the stories we told were about the police almost arresting uncle Pat even though it was just a speeding ticket.
You loved to joke and call us losers and we reciprocated with calling you Swayze. You had the hair, the smile, the laugh and were always up for having a good time, loved cards and playing poker. I remember us teasing you when you wanted to name Brandon, Stone. We kept telling you, you might as well call him rock, pebble or sand instead. You called us losers and we laughed so hard.
You always had your beeper or phone ear piece in and I remember always thinking “wow he must be someone important” because you were always on the phone. There would be times that you would be looking at us intently listening, only to find out that you were actually on the phone. No matter how busy you were you always made time for family. You were a wonderful husband to Jackie; a fantastic dad to Shannon, Kelsey, and Brandon; a chill father in law to Tyson and Kyle and a proud Grandpa to Maddie.
Your love for the entire Logel clan is immeasurable. You are someone important and special to our family and it’s a great loss for us. We know you, Papa and Kerry are together watching and guiding us all. Rest in external peace. You will be missed. Love you xoxo
Jackie, Shannon, Tyson, Maddie, Kelsey, Kyle and Brandon, our large crazy family will continue to keep you in our hearts and prayers. We love and care for you all. We will go on sharing our stories and keeping Pat’s memory alive. Our hearts are breaking over Pats passing but we will love and support you through this difficult time.

I have just finished reading notes posted here about everyone’s memories & feelings for Pat & so I was inspired to add some of my memories here as well.
For at least the last 10-15 years of my career at Apotex my desk was within feet of Pat’s office.
I saw & heard a parade of people in & out of his office…. Most of it business, but also some personal as would be attested by a closing of the door.
Pat made time for EVERYONE.
Being this close to his door also meant being at his beck & call….. he would just shout out our names ( Irene, myself, Brian & later TJ ) when he needed something from us…. We all spent so much time at his door or just inside his office, truthfully, at first I found it disconcerting but very soon I grew used to it…. it soon became so normal that when Pat was away it seemed eerily quiet!
I loved working for Pat.
He was truly a great “Boss”.
He always demanded your best….. and we always gave him our best because he inspired us to give our best.
When I suffered 3 separate immediate family losses within a few short years he showed me what a caring & decent man he truly was by calling me every few days to check up on how I was doing & how my family was coping.
Then when I was about to retire 15 months ago we were still in the midst of the pandemic lockdown, I suggest I train my replacement in person in the boardroom while respecting social distancing.
Pat agreed, so there was basically 3 people in our whole area.
A few days before my last day, I came in the morning to find the whole board room festooned with retirement banners, streamers & balloons!!
I ran to Pat’s office & remarked that Irene must have come in last night to decorate for my upcoming retirement( as this was typical for our group).
Pat said “ No Boss, I did the decorating! First time I EVER went to buy decorations.”
I was speechless, dumbfounded & so touched.
I ran to him & hugged him ( mask on of course!) and thanked him from the bottom of my heart.
As I said above, he was truly a very decent man.
His loss will be felt by so many, but mostly by his loving family.
We are all better people for having known him.
Rest easy Boss.

I don’t know how to wrap up my relationship with Pat into a few words.
As my baby brother he was born a few years after myself. He was the first born son for my parents and my sisters and I doted on him. As we grew up he continued to be the life of the party, the guy with the infectious laugh and great hair.
When Rick and I moved to Scarborough he came to live with us and started his life long career with Apotex. I was always so proud of his dedication and hard work. When we then moved to Richmond hill he decided to come with us once again. Having Pat and my other brother Geoff live with us was perfect. Rick worked late nights and I loved the company of having family around. Pat and Geoff would help with my kids and became the cool uncles that every kid wants. He was there whenever we needed him and my kids admire him so much.
Pat continued to grow and mature and in the process met the love of his life, Jackie. We loved her from day 1 and knew she was the one for him because she was kind, sweet and loving. They married shortly after and we got to experience so many adventures together. We would participate with him and the Apotex co-workers for fundraisers, golf tournaments, card tournaments etc.
Pat and Jackie started expanding their family and no matter how busy he was he was able to be there for my kids especially as a godfather to our son Phillip. He showed him exemplary leadership and guidance.
I will hold close the memories of playing cards on the weekends with him and Jackie, travelling around the world and growing our families together.
Pat always made time for Jackie and the kids but never missed our extended family events. Family came first for him. He was a proud family man and often reminded me of our dad.
Pat, I told you I will be there for Jackie and your family always and forever. We love you very much and I will miss you beyond measure. Rest easy little brother. Say hi to dad and Kerry. Until we meet again xoxo

Pat was such a generous, caring, and motivated person and leader. He was the real BOSS!(inside out). He encouraged so many people for their better carrier/promotions. His motive was only to provide medicine on time to the needy patients and promote Apotex within the World NOT to promote himself within Apotex. Pat was my one of MANY cousins! Although we were not close family members, we did share a common bond, although heart breaking bond as, I too, suffer from 2 brain tumours. Fortunately for ME, my tumours are not considered nearly as severe as Pat's! I am currently awaiting a date for when my radiation treatments will begin. Although I will not enjoy the hour long daily commutes to Hamilton five days a week, I will be comforted knowing that I am being treated and have not been given any terminal news!
Pat, you will be missed at our family functions. Uncle Clare and your entire family was/are always so welcoming! Sending lots of love and you look down upon your entire family and friends! XOXO
Although I did not see gray as a colour option for the candle, I am acknowledging that gray is in fact the colour associated with this disease. :- (.
Brain cancer
Color: gray
Possibly a reflection of a person’s “gray matter,” a gray ribbon promotes brain cancer awareness.
The National Brain Tumor Society estimates that approximately 688,000 people in the U.S. are living with a brain or central nervous system tumor. While the majority of these tumors are benign, about 37 percent are cancerous.
May is Brain Cancer Awareness Month.

Pat and I worked together, played hockey together and ended up coaching soccer against each other. Excellent to work with, fun to play with and against. Dear Logel Family,
It was with great sadness that I recently learned of the untimely passing of Pat.
I was fortunate to be hired and managed by Pat at Apotex; he was an exceptional leader, providing guidance and mentoring for myself and many others while he successfully supported the massive growth of the organization. More importantly, he was a brilliant 'people first' individual, and provided many great humourous memories working with him.
Pat excelled at hockey, and served as my unofficial 'on ice coach' in helping me to be a better, over-the-hill hockey player at Apotex Hockey on Thursday nights, and as Pat's teammate in the Apotex Baycrest Charity Tournament.
With deepest sympathy,

Uncle Pat was one-of-a-kind. Whether it be trips to Florida, family reunions, or hanging out by the pool, Pat always had a joke, a smile, and a story that would make you laugh. I will never forget him walking around Disney eating a big turkey leg, and letting my brother and I try it.
To say that he will be missed would be an understatement. It almost doesn’t feel real that he is gone. We are sending all of our love to Aunt Jackie, Shannon, Kelsey, and Brandon.

Dear Logel family, please accept my sincere condolences.
Although I never had the honor of working with Pat, as I worked at 150 Signet in my early days at Apotex, I very often saw his smiling face in the building and was always amazed at the energy he had and the passion he displayed. I was surprised to know that even after working at Apotex for 39 years, his passion and love for Apotex never faded. I got to know from quite a few people that he was a great MENTOR to them and provided them a lot of opportunities for growth.
Rest in peace Pat. You will be fondly remembered by all the lives you touched.

Dear Logel Family,
Words can only begin to describe what Pat meant not only to me but to so many others as well. So many of us had the privilege of meeting Pat at a young age early in our careers at Apotex. He used to affectionately call us 'young punks' back then even though we were all of a similar age. Pat took so many of us under his wing providing guidance for us not only at work but for anything that we asked...that was our 'BOSS'. Whether taking about anything from rajsing kids to sports psychology Pat would always be there to listen, provide advice and support. He made our daily lives so enjoyable always appreciating our hard work and celebrating in our accomplishments.
For myself Pat was such a close friend and like the big brother I never had. After sustaining a life altering injury that saw me spend 15 months in the hospital, I realized that God not only gave me an amazing friend but blessed me with an angel to help carry me through the toughest of times. My special angel on earth was there through my journey...day in and day out. His presence, actions, words of encouragement, positive attitude can only begin to describe what he did for me while helping me fight to live. I will forever be grateful for you BOSS!
As I write this tears stream down my face, I will forever cherish Pat for all the amazing memories that I will keep near and dear in my heart. I pray that a little bit of the Bossman rubbed off on me, so that this is not goodbye but when we meet again in heaven! When we meet again you will hear me yell out "YO BOSS" with the biggest smile on my face!
Love you BOSS!

Pat, I miss the days of our daily conversations driving up the 400. You inspired me along with so many others and I am coaching my kids' soccer today (and loving every minute of it ) because of you. You taught me about passion, hard work, and dedication all while having fun and connecting with people every day. I am going to miss you a lot.

My heart goes out to you during this difficult time. My sincere prayers are with you and your loved ones.
Pat was a best colleague and mentor someone could ever have. I have worked a few years with him including some time in India and I cherish every day I have had conversation with him.
Pat was one of the most dedicated person who gave his 110% for Apotex for 39 years. He often told me that if you love what you do, every day is a vacation day! Over last two years, we developed a great friendship. He would have his salad lunch, go for a smoke and walk to my office three days a week during the lunch hour and mostly give me hard time on product supply concerns!! And when he did not show up to my office, I would head down to his office and do the same!
Pat, I will miss you forever and take some comfort in knowing that you are at better place. RIP.
Cheers ‘Boss’

Pat, was an extraordinary man with a great set of hair!
The memories we shared discussing soccer during my younger years will be remembered. In him, I witnessed striking characteristics of my father (his brother) and this exemplifies the unbreakable bond we as "Logels", share as a family. I truly believe that Pat's spirit will forever watch over his loving family. He is reunited with Poppa Logel and Kerry, who continue to watch over all of us.
We will miss you, Uncle Pat.
Love,

I will always remember the day Pat got arrested at Apotex when a new receptionist saw him jumping up and down and waving his arms outside 4100 Weston Rd. She didn’t know him and didn’t know he was carrying on a “negotiation” on his cell phone. Jack Kay had to attest to his credentials….. wonderful memories of a great guy taken far too soon. Apotex would not have worked without him. RIP Pat

I always thought of Pat as the “cool” uncle (they’re all cool, but he was “Swayze” cool). Everything about him was so cool; his hair, shades, dance moves, athleticism and sports acumen, always a heart throb, stories from his Maryhill days and the mischief him and his brothers and friends would get up to, etc. While I always looked up to him for being cool, as I got older, I started to admire him more for his work ethic, positive, laid back and easy going attitude, and how he was clearly adored as a dad, husband, son, brother, grandpa, uncle, etc. It was also fun watching him take on the role of Great Uncle with our kids (and all the others at family gatherings), the way he'd play with them and tease them the same way he did with us.
The way he spoke about his dad (grandpa) at grandpa’s funeral always stuck with me. It must have been so hard but he did such a great job articulating how much grandpa meant to him and our family, and how truly important family is.
While I was able to spend lots of time with Pat at our many amazing family gatherings, weddings, and parties, I really wish I got to spend more time with him. He was such a great guy and family man, a true role model for anyone….a lot like grandpa.
I will miss him dearly and take some comfort in knowing that he will be reunited with loved ones like grandpa and Kerry, and parts of him will live on in his family. While Jackie, Shannon, Kelsey, and Brandon are lucky to have had Pat as the exceptional husband and father that he was…he was truly lucky to have each of you.
Love,
Mike Dunn and Family

Like Mike Dunn (an amazing and true tribute to Pat) I, as his Aunt, always thought he was cool! Admired his “down-to-earthiness’ and respect of his Uncles and Aunts - always had a special bond with his Uncle Larry - (1941-2021) who loved playing Baseball/Horseshoes with him.He will be deeply missed by our large “Logel” family. Loving thought and prayers go out to Jackie, his family, Patsy and his siblings. Marj Goodyear.
