Obituary of David Ernest Strudwick
(WWII Veteran, served as Worshipful Master for Simcoe Lodge No.79 in 1989, served as District Secretary in 1994-95 for District No.5)
David peacefully passed away at Margaret Bahen Hospice, Newmarket on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 in his 99th year.
Beloved husband of late Doreen (nee Watts). Loving father of Susan (Mark) Luttrell and Jennifer (Mark) Poirier. Proud grandpa of Alexander and Jacob. Also survived by his sister-in-law Dorothy Hodgson.
Special thanks to Barbie, Dr. Harvey, Dr. Mulhern and the staff at Margaret Bahen Hospice for their compassionate care of David.
David loved the outdoors. Right into his 99th year he could be found walking the grounds or enjoying a good book under the tree at his condo. He had many interests; reading - Dickens, P.D. James, John Grisham; music - Frank Sinatra and Pavarotti among his favourites. David enjoyed being part of the community and especially looked forward to his weekly bridge games at the local seniors centre. An avid football fan, he cheered on his beloved Crystal Palace. David loved his family and friends and was known for his many sayings and cheers that will be remembered and repeated in his honour. So in closing: “Here’s to my mother’s youngest son and all those that love him.”
A visitation will be held at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Road, Bradford on Monday, June 26, 2023 from 6-8 p.m., with a Masonic Service held under the auspices of Simcoe Lodge No.79 A.F. & A.M., G.R.C. at 6 p.m.
In David's memory, donations may be made to the Margaret Bahen Hospice or to the charity of your choice.
