I was so saddened when I heard the news about Craig. I met Craig in the early 90’s in Guelph with my brother. Amazing personality and sense of humour. He was just a joy to be around. Years later I had a chance to go and see him up in Newmarket and we sat back and shared some old memories of when we worked together at the mall and his path to becoming a police officer. Heater was definitely one of the good guys. May he rest well. Thinking of his family at this time.

Way back in the 1990's, I was working at a Mall in Guelph when Heater was an aspiring Police Officer, working retail and security. His passion and humour back then was infectious. When he went on to become a Constable with York Regional, I was so happy for him and just felt, this was the guy for the job. I ended up working security with guard dogs and Craig agreed to meet me in the York region and we basically just talked about awareness for hours. He was new to the force, but shared so many stories outlining how he was doing as a new Constable. I will never forget that day. We ended up losing touch over time, but I just knew he would be one of the best 'Coppers' ever. And he was. I never got to meet his family, but I am thinking about you.

So sad to hear the terrible news of Heater's passing. I got to know Heater who proved to be of great assistance to us in various matters in which we had a common interest and always appreciated his involvement. He became a great supporter and friend to me and my wife Debbie for over 25 years. Whether it was visiting each other's homes for dinners several times over the earlier years of our friendship or golfing during my working days with him and his YRP and OPP buddies at the annual Holdup Squad tournament, the laughs and charmingly outrageous behavior (all good) was never ending and will be fondly missed. We will never forget him visiting our house unannounced while we were out only for us to arrive home to find him giving window washers we had hired, who had ladders up to our bedroom windows, the 3rd degree to make sure they weren't trying to break in. He will be sadly missed and we offer our deepest condolences to Fiona, Hayley, Jack, and Brayden.

I am very sadden to learn of Craigs untimely death. He was great soccer coach to my daughter Leah when the team was left in a clutch and I got to know him during the years our girls played house league soccer together. He was always extremely friendly and outgoing and I can't imagine what Fiona and his kids are going through at this time.

I will always cherish my time working with Heater in Auto Recovery; I can't remember one day working with him when I didn't laugh myself silly because of him. I'll forever have those fond memories of Craig and I am so sorry for your loss as a family. His passing has left a huge hole in our hearts here at YRP and that doesn't really express how sad we are to have lost an amazing person. RIP Handsome Heatley, our little joke that makes me smile to this day. So sorry....

I’ll never forget heater we laughed together every time we crossed paths, I have fond memories of heater when he was walking the beat in 2 district, I lived close to 2 district and I would be sitting in my family room at the back of my home, I would hear the front door open , then the cupboard door and fridge then heater would appear, let himself in and helped himself to a cold drink on the way through the kitchen , would just stand there with a smirk lol, just an all round down to earth “good guy” I miss crossing paths with him , rest in piece buddy, I’ll see u again ,Jim Hadwen
