Obituary of William Leslie Baynton
- It is with sadness that the family of William (Bill) Leslie Baynton announce his passing in his Bradford home on Thursday, November 24, 2016 in his 68th year. Bill is survived by his mother Hazel; his children Lindsay (Jérôme), Kristy (Roland), Ashley (Eric), and Scott (Kseniia); his grand-children Logan, Madeleine, Chloé, Ella, and Evelina; his sisters Kim (Gerald) and Elizabeth (Todd); and his nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his loving wife Lynda, his father Wilf, his brother Robert (Sandy), and brother-in-law Robert.
Bill was born on December 6th, 1948, the eldest child of Colonel Wilfred and Mrs. Hazel Baynton. He studied Mechanical Engineering variously at Queen’s University, Royal Military College of Canada, and Collège Militaire Royal de Saint-Jean. Later, he completed his Masters of Business Administration at Ivey Business School in London. Bill headed a series of companies in the Toronto area, and later worked as a consultant and financial planner. While at Queen’s, he met future wife, Lynda Smart. They were married on August 28th, 1971, and welcomed four children into their family who remember Bill as an industrious, meticulous, and jocular father.
A devoted son and husband, Bill was always sure that his family’s needs were met. He was the prototypical super-connector, and relished putting his family, friends, and associates in touch with one another to answer questions. A natural athlete, Bill enjoyed sports and played basketball well into his adult life.
A memorial visitation will be held at Skwarchuk Funeral Home 30 Simcoe Rd, Bradford (1-800-209-4803) on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 1 p.m. until a celebration of life at 2 p.m.
