Obituary of Mandy Flohil
It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, after several lengthy illnesses, including rheumatoid arthritis, at the age of 80. She was born in Selby, England and came to Canada in 1957. She worked at DeBoers Furniture for many years. She worked hard to pay off her house and she loved her home on Calvin Avenue in North York. But more than anything, she loved her children, Sara Purves (Jack) and Jill Flohil (Brian) and her grandchildren, Kristin Purves (Jason) and Geoffrey Purves. She was a good and loving mom. She also loved Coronation Street, crossword puzzles, going to Red Lobster, taking art classes, Susan Boyles version of I Dreamed a Dream, and the many cats who shared her life over the years (especially Tiddles and Abbey). She did her best in the world, raising two teenaged daughters on her own; it was a good thing she had a sense of humour. We would like to thank the many agencies, doctors and nurses who helped us care for Mom, especially in her final years. If desired, donations in her name may be made to The Alzheimer Society Canada www.alzheimer.ca/en or The Arthritis Society www.arthritis.ca.
