Obituary of Lillian Grace Reade
Peacefully, in her 102nd year, at Mackenzie Place Long Term Care Residence in Newmarket on Tuesday, February 17th, 2015, Lillian joined those whom she loved who have gone before her. Born in Bradford, Ontario on July 12th, 1913, more than a century ago. Her passing marks the end of a generation and an era. She was predeceased by 3 brothers and 4 sisters and by her beloved husband (d.2007) of more than 70 years, Harold Reade, late of West Hill, Ontario. Lillian is survived by an adopted son, Peter and will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and their families. Lillian had a great sense of humour and a quick wit. She was unfailingly kind and generous living her life with grace, generosity, optimism and enthusiasm. She had a remarkable talent for friendship and keeping in touch. Throughout her life, she maintained a close relationship with her friends, forged bonds with many others and loved being with family. Lillian was always ready for the next adventure, loved to travel and have new experiences. Her strong Anglican faith sustained her throughout the vicissitudes of her long and at times challenging life. A service of thanksgiving for the long and fulfilled life of Lillian will take place at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 227 Church St., Newmarket on Friday, February 20th at 1pm with visitation one hour prior to service. Sharing of memories and refreshments will follow in The Link of the church. Interment will take place immediately following the reception at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bradford, where she will be laid to rest along side her husband, Harold. If you wish to remember Lillian, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Mackenzie Place Resident's Council Fund, 52 George Street, Newmarket, ON L3Y 4V3. Lillian was always treated with kindness and dignity by the dedicated staff of Mackenzie Place.
