Obituary of Gerrit Slykhuis

Passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17th, 2014 at 86 years of age. Survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Gerda, his children William (Susan), Gerry (Louise), Robert (MaryEllen), Marilyn Bruzzese (Vince) and James (Christine). Dearly loved and missed by his 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his brothers John and Fred, and his great-grandson Kobe. Gerry was an active member and past president of the Danube Seniors� Centre in Bradford, past president of the Aurora Lions Club, and was retired after a full career at the TTC, Grey Coach and GO Transit. Friends may call at SKWARCHUK FUNERAL HOME, 30 Simcoe Rd., Bradford (1-800-209-4803) for visitation on Sunday from 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Martyrs of Japan Church, 167 Essa St., Bradford on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 2 p.m. followed by cremation. Donations to Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation, where Gerry was an active volunteer, would be appreciated by the family.
